Lincoln, Neb. ? After losing to Minnesota on Tuesday night, the No. 25 Cornhusker women stepped up their game Saturday, rolling over Michigan, 85-45, to take their third 40-point win of the season.
Nebraska (7-2) hit five of its first six shots, including a three-pointer by Kelsey Griffin and three straight baskets by Chelsea Aubry to take an 11-4 lead.
“The fact we got a quick lead, I thought, was a key to the game,” said Nebraska coach Connie Yori. “Our pressure bothered Michigan, particularly early. I thought we played with good intelligence and ran the floor very, very hard.”
Nebraska’s 74-65 loss to Minnesota earlier this week was a different story.
“As a team, we felt a lot different,” said Aubry, who led Nebraska with 18 points. “We weren’t tense, we weren’t anxious. We played our game the way we wanted to play it.
Nebraska finished the game shooting 52 percent from the floor.
The Huskers held Michigan to just 35 percent shooting and out-rebounded the Wolverines by 13.
