Austin, Texas ? Kansas University’s volleyball team rallied from an 0-2 deficit to force a tiebreaker, but the 24th-ranked Jayhawks came away from Gregory Gym with a 3-2 loss to No. 23 Texas on Wednesday.
UT (7-2 overall, 2-1 Big 12 Conference) posted a 30-26, 30-24, 27-30, 27-30, 15-13 victory over the Jayhawks (10-2, 2-1), putting an end to KU’s six-match winning streak.
Junior Paula Caten tied a career best with 21 kills on a .375 hitting percentage to lead the Jayhawks and added 10 digs in the effort. Sophomore Emily Brown set a career high with 19 kills, while junior Jana Correa also had 19 kills and 11 digs.
Josi Lima had 13 kills and added seven digs, while junior Jamie Mathewson set a career best with 18 digs.
KU will play host to Baylor (9-3, 1-0) on Saturday. Match time is 7 p.m. at Horejsi Center.
