Feathering the Flock

The Journal-World’s campaign to feather the Marching Jayhawk flock by fall continued to rack up donations last week.

From Wednesday to Friday, the total of donations received jumped $5,306, to $83,293.59.

The goal is $150,000 by March 1, in time to order uniforms for 300 musicians for this fall’s football season. The current uniforms have been in service since the early 1980s.

Feathering the flock

The Kansas University marching band sits for a portrait, circa 1912. In Sunday's Journal-World, as part of the Feather the Flock campaign, we will take a look at the history of the Marching Jayhawks, including the various uniforms they've donned since the founding of the band a hundred years ago.

From Monday to Wednesday, the total of donations received jumped $9,996, to $77,987.59.

The goal is $150,000 by March 1, in time to order uniforms for 300 musicians for this fall’s football season. The current uniforms have been in service since the early 1980s.
