Shebra Legrant, a standout player for Kansas University’s women’s basketball team in 1979-81, passed away Friday in Miami.
Despite playing just two seasons at Kansas, Legrant scored 1,044 points in her career, which ranks her 16th on KU’s all-time scoring list.
Prior to playing at KU, Legrant was a two-time junior college All-American, averaging 32.1 points and 25.0 rebounds per game at Roxbury (Mass.) Community College.
“Shebra was a great competitor and a great player, but more importantly she was one of the most compassionate people I have ever met,” KU coach Marian Washington said Wednesday. “Her passing is a tremendous loss to the Jayhawk family.”
Legrant is survived by two children.
