Haylock leads Jayhawks

? Kansas University’s Emily Haylock swept both her singles and doubles matches Sunday at the Hurricane Invitational.

Haylock defeated Tulsa’s Mariana Barrios, 6-1, 6-1, before teaming with freshman Christine Skoda to top TU’s Barrios and Tiffany Smith, 9-7.

In other matches versus Tulsa, KU junior Courtney Steinbock fell to Alicia Pillay, 6-2, 6-2; sophomore Paige Brown lost to Aleksandra Durska, 5-7, 6-0, 6-0; senior Kim Lorenz lost to Andrea Kurekova 6-1, 6-1; and Skoda lost to Tiffany Smith, 6-3, 6-4.

Courtney Steinbock and Kristin Steinbock fell to Pillay and Durska in doubles, 8-6. In the three day event, Kansas went 6-12 overall in singles action and 6-2 in doubles matches against Texas-Arlington, Southwest Missouri State and Tulsa.

The Jayhawks next will compete in the Indiana Invitational, Oct. 4-6 in Bloomington, Ind.
