Duke on top of final poll

Duke was No. 1 in the final Associated Press college basketball poll Monday, the third straight season the Blue Devils finished on top of the rankings entering the NCAA tournament.

The only other school to finish No. 1 in three straight final polls was UCLA, which did it from 1971-73.

Maryland led the Second Ten for the second straight week and was followed by Kansas and Oklahoma. Poll on page 8C.

UConn women return to No. 1

Connecticut has come full circle in the Associated Press women’s basketball poll.

The Huskies started the season at No. 1, dropped out of the lead after a midseason loss to Notre Dame, then made it back to the top Monday in the final poll. Connecticut (28-2) regained the No. 1 spot after beating last week’s leader, Notre Dame, in the championship game of the Big East tournament. Notre Dame (28-2) slipped to second, with five first-place votes and 951 points. Tennessee (29-2) remained third with three first-place votes and 934 points. Poll on page 8C.
