Five members of Kansas’ track team will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships today through Sunday in Raleigh, N.C.
Andrea Bulat will be competing in the women’s javelin throw. Bulat threw 160-8 on May 6 to earn the bid. Bulat, who placed third in the Big 12 Conference meet in the javelin will be making her first trip to Nationals.
Andrea Branson, who advanced to nationals the past two seasons, is back after setting a school record in the pole vault at the Kansas Relays (13-10).
Scott Russell enters NCAAs ranked first in the javelin with a mark of 259-0. Russell also will compete in the hammer throw after throwing 210-8 in May.
Charlie Gruber who advanced to the NCAAs last year, will compete in the 1,500-meter run (3:43.52). Gruber won the 1,500 at the Big 12 Conference meets in both the indoor and outdoor season.
Junior Andy Morris will be making his first appearance at Nationals. Morris was the Big 12 Conference Champion in the decathlon, with a point total of 7,315 giving him a bid to collegiate track’s biggest meet
