Shanell Law, a 5-foot-9 guard from Los Angeles, Calif., has signed a national basketball letter of intent with Kansas University.

Law averaged 26.0 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals at Washington Prep last season. She was named the league MVP and earned berths on All-City and All-Southern California teams.

“She’s a good student and brings athleticism and quickness to the perimeter,” KU coach Marian Washington said.

Law is the third former L.A. Washington Prep player to join the Jayhawks. The other two were Charisse Sampson (1993-96) and Keshana Ledet (1995-96).

Law is also KU’s third signee this season.

During the early signing period in November, the Jayhawks landed Dalchon Brown, a post player from Independence CC and guard-forward Fernanda Bosi, a Brazilian who played at Western Nebraska JC.
