Kansas University sophomore guard Devonté Graham suffered a partially torn quad tendon above the knee in Wednesday’s KU campers game and will have his knee immobilized three weeks, coach Bill Self said Thursday night.

Graham will not need surgery, Self said, but will definitely not play in the upcoming World University Games. Self on Thursday night was not sure which knee was injured.

“He is totally immobilized for three weeks, then we’ll see how long it takes before he’s back playing,” Self said. “He’s lost to us for South Korea. He will not play in South Korea. I feel bad for Devonté because he’d been playing great. He may or may not go on the trip, but he won’t play.”

Self said he would try to find another guard from another school to bring on the trip.

“I haven’t talked to anybody,” Self said. “We have to find somebody not in summer school and can be gone three weeks. I don’t know how big our pool is.”

Tough break for Graham and tough break for the team. Does Larry Brown have another rabbit in his hat? Either way, get right, Devonte. If we're going to right the ship this year, we'll need a guy with your talents. God bless.

Ouch. I was worried this type of thing would happen. I'm just thankful it wasn't much more serious.

Not good news... Sure glad we signed Legerald Vick.

We have become so spoiled that we are talking about "righting the ship" this year coming off our 11th straight big 12 championship

Or maybe he's talking about having 2 perimeter players injured. Or maybe he's talking about living up to our seeding in the tournies, though IMO that gets back to the unfortunate injuries to starters and key reserves in the last 2 years. We'd have gone a lot farther with a healthy Embiid, Ellis, Greene.

On the player availability front it seems worse than it is because of the number of international players we now have on the roster. It probably is worse in Coach's mind from the shot clock pace of the game stand point; realizing that he will likely need more players than the std 8 or 9 that he's grown comfortable with over the years.

Andrew White. Would Miles let him go?

Codi Miller-McIntyre is their PG and best player. Will be a senior this fall. Awful 3pt shooter but might be a decent pickup.

Hopefully he can get and stay fully healthy this year. I was really looking forward to seeing how he evolves as a key player.

Frankamp? I'm not serious, and it's not gonna happen, but he would fill the spot quickly and easily since he already knows the system and players.

Man that's disappointing. I'm ticketed and ready for the 2 games at Sprint Center and it's a let down he won't be involved. Also, it's a little late to grab someone else and try to get them acclimated to our system before the trip over-seas. Either way, get better Graham and come ready this Fall.

Wonder if we could offer an olive branch to Wichita State and see if one of their guards is available. Perhaps that has already been done. If not, it would be a nice gesture, even if it was Frankamp.
