1. Xavier Henry: Scored eight of team’s first 11 points and finished with 27 points, a KU record for a freshman debut. (Wilt Chamberlain was not eligible as a freshman).
2. Sherron Collins: Had 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and took a hard charge.
3. Cole Aldrich: Teammates had trouble feeding him the ball against the zone. He made the most of opportunities, making 4 of 5 shots. Blocked four shots to go with 11 points and eight rebounds.
4. Tyshawn Taylor: Did excellent job of guarding Charles Jenkins early, when the game was won.
5. Elijah Johnson: Keeps the break moving fast with excellent, quick passes and knows how to get to the hole to score.
6. Marcus Morris: Mid-range jumper looks much improved. Had nine points, four boards and two assists.
7. Markieff Morris: Had six points, seven boards and two steals in 12 productive minutes.
8. Tyrel Reed: Misfired on all four shots but contributed three assists, three rebounds, a memorable blocked shot and a steal.
9. Thomas Robinson: Hurried things against Hofstra’s zone and made just 1 of 5 field goals and 3 of 8 free throws. Also had three turnovers. Did pick up five boards in 17 minutes.
