By Staff Report     Mar 12, 2021

The Kansas softball team (10-7) split a doubleheader with South Dakota State (12-3) on Thursday, earning a 4-1 win in game one before dropping a 6-3 decision in the second outing. It came after KU’s 15-11 loss to SDSU in 10 innings on Wednesday.

“We were consistent in the first game on all fronts,” Kansas coach Jennifer McFalls said in a team release. “After the second game, we can’t wait to play again. We want to get back on the dirt and show that we can finish on all facets.”

The Jayhawks recorded a total of 16 hits in Thursday’s doubleheader against South Dakota State. Sydnee Ramsey, Brittany Jackson, Morgyn Wynne and Macy Omli all finished with three hits. Madison Hirsch and Jordan Richards rounded things out with two hits apiece.

In the circle, Tatum Goff was credited with her third complete game and improved to 3-1 on the season during KU’s lone victory of the series. Goff surrendered one run on two hits, while recording four strikeouts and no walks against 23 batters over seven frames.

KU was slated to face Northern Iowa on Friday during the Rock Chalk Challenge, but that game has been postponed to Saturday due to weather in the area. A game time has not been set yet.
