KU’s Ioanna Chatzileonti makes All-Big 12 freshman team

Kansas freshman Ioanna Chatzileonti earned a spot on the Big 12’s All-Freshman Team for the 2020-21 season, the conference announced on Wednesday.

A key interior defender for the Jayhawks in her debut season, Chatzileonti, a 6-foot-2 forward from Athens, Greece, averaged 7.6 points, and led KU with both 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks during the regular season.

Chatzileonti started in each of her past nine appearances and enters the postseason shooting 43.8% from the floor, as well as 75.6% at the free throw line.

KU sophomore guard Holly Kersgieter received honorable mention on the All-Big 12 teams.

Kersgieter is averaging a team-leading 16.7 points per game for the Jayhawks. She has made more 3-pointers (37-for-116) and free throws (94-for-110) than anyone else on KU’s roster.
