The Kansas tennis team collected two wins in the first day of the SMU Fall Invitational on Friday afternoon at the SMU Tennis Complex in Dallas.
On the doubles side, sophomore Julia Deming and freshman Luniuska Delgado dropped both of their matches against Stephen F. Austin (7-5) and Wichita State (7-5). KU finished the round on a high note, however, as Sofia Smagina paired with Carmen Roxana Manu to defeat a team from SMU, 6-4.
Singles action ended the day for Deming, Delgado, Smagina and Manu. Deming found success in the Mustang Draw with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Southern Miss. In the Hilltop Draw, Delgado, Smagina and Manu all fell in their respective matches.
