Season ends for KU softball at Big 12 Championship

By Staff Report     May 11, 2019

Due to weather and unplayable field conditions, the remainder of the 2019 Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship has been canceled and KU’s game against Oklahoma was declared a no contest.

“Really proud of our progress this team has made this year,” head coach Jennifer McFalls said in a team release. “It is unfortunate to have the season end the way it did and have weather impact the Big 12 Tournament.”

Kansas opened the Big 12 Tournament against Texas Tech, and despite a seventh-inning rally, KU dropped its first contest of the tournament by a 7-3 margin. The Jayhawks then played No. 1 seed Oklahoma at 7:30 p.m. Friday before the rain halted play in the fourth inning. OU held a 5-0 advantage before play was suspended.

KU finished the 2019 season with a 15-36 record and played 32 teams in the RPI top 75.
