The Kansas baseball team suffered a heartbreaking loss against an in-state foe Wednesday night.
Wichita State handed Kansas a 3-2 loss in walk-off fashion in an extra-inning thriller at Eck Stadium. WSU finished things off when Hunter Gibson hit a towering shot to right field on the first pitch of the bottom of the 13th.
The theatrics were necessary because Kansas freshman Dylan Ditzenberger delivered a 2-run single in the top of the seventh to even the score at 2-2.
KU begins Big 12 play at Oklahoma this weekend. The series opener is slated for 6:30 p.m. Friday.
