Third-year Kansas women’s basketball coach Brandon Schneider picked up his first road Big 12 victory, defeating Texas Tech, 60-47, Wednesday night in United Supermarkets Arena.
Kansas (11-3 overall, 2-1 in the Big 12) never trailed and led 24-7 heading into the second quarter.
In just the third conference game, Brianna Osorio led the Jayhawks (11-3, 2-1 Big 12) with a career-high 19 points, which included four 3-pointers. Christalah Lyons added 15 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while Kylee Kopatich had 14 points in coach Brandon Schneider’s first conference road win in three seasons.
The Jayhawks led by as many as 19 points in a wire-to-wire win over the Red Raiders (6-8, 0-3). It was their first Big 12 road win since Feb. 28, 2015.
KU’s aggressive defense led to 20 turnovers for Texas Tech (6-8, 0-3).
Three games into the Big 12 season, Schneider already has as many regular-season conference victories as he did in the first two years combined of his rebuilding effort.
Kansas will play host to sixth-ranked Baylor at 2 p.m. Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse.
