Chris Thompson shot a 1-under par 70 Friday in the second round of the Pinnacle Bank Championship in Omaha, Neb.

Thompson finished the day in a 14-way tie for 24th, five strokes behind leader Matt Davidson. If he finishes the four-round tournament in the top 25 he automatically qualifies for next week’s Digital Ally Open at Nicklaus Golf Course at LionsGate in Overland Park.

Thompson’s former teammate at Kansas, Ryan Vermeer, shot even par Friday but missed the cut.

In the Kansas Amateur at Kansas City Country Club, Kansas graduate and reigning Big 12 champion Chase Hanna advanced Friday to the quarterfinals by defeating Christian Spencer in 19 holes and James Henderson 1 up. KU golfer Charlie Hillier won his matches 4 and 3 and in 19 holes to advance to the quarterfinals. Fellow Jayhawk Andy Spencer won his morning match and was then eliminated by Alec Heinen, 2 and 1.

Conrad Roberts and Bradley Lane of Lawrence both made it to the final 16 of the 64-man, single-elimination match-play tournament by winning their morning matches and then were eliminated.
