KU women’s golf opens in 7th

? Kansas University’s Yupaporn Kawinpakorn is tied for third and the KU women’s golf team is tied for seventh after Sunday’s first round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Turtle Point Golf Course.

Kawinpakorn shot a 2-under 70 to sit three back of leader Nadine White, of Campbell, and a stroke behind second-place Malene Krolboll Hansen of Coastal Carolina.

Other KU scores: Laine Evans, tied for 32nd, 74; Ariadna Fonseca Diaz and Pitsinee Winyarat, tied for 47th, 75; and Kallie Gonzales, tied for 84th, 81.

Campbell leads the team race with 286. KU is tied with Coastal Carolina at 294.

The tournament resumes today.
