Welle sparks KU to men’s golf win

? Kansas University senior Ben Welle played bogey-free golf Sunday to surge to a second-place finish at the Price’s Give ‘Em Five Invitational, and the KU men’s golf team won its second team title of the season.

Welle shot a career-best 8-under 64 to finish at 202 (14-under), five strokes behind winner Antoine Rozner of UMKC.

“It was a great win today,” KU coach Jamie Bermel said. “I’m really proud of all of them but especially the seniors in particular.”

Kansas won the team crown with 38-under 826, four strokes off the school record.

Runner-up St. Mary’s shot 837.

KU’s other scores: Chase Hanna, sixth, 207; Charlie Hillier, tied for eighth, 209; Connor Peck, tied for 20th, 212; Jacques Wilson, tied for 46th, 218; and Daniel Hudson, tied for 60th, 222.
