By Staff Reports     Nov 5, 2014

For the third consecutive year, Kansas University seniors Jamie Fletcher, Caroline Van Slambrouck and Haley Yearout were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Soccer First Team on Tuesday.

Senior Kelsey Lyden and sophomores Tayler Estrada, Ashley Pankey, Kaley Smith and Morgan Williams each all-league academic honors for the first time.

Smith was one of six Big 12 student-athletes to have a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests.

Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

Kansas concluded its regular season last weekend going 15-4-0 overall to earn the No. 3 seed at the Big 12 Soccer Championship to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, this week. The Jayhawks are scheduled to take on No. 6-seeded Oklahoma at 8 tonight inside the Swope Soccer Village.
