Tampa, Fla. ? Kansas University sophomore shortstop Chaley Brickey hit her second and third home runs of the weekend in a pair of KU victories Saturday at the Under Armour Showcase.
After a three-run shot on Friday, Brickey added another Saturday with a fifth-inning blast during the Jayhawks’ 4-0 win over St. John’s. Later in the day, Brickey smashed a two-run homer — her fifth of the season — in the first inning of a 4-1 victory over Utah.
Kansas pitchers Kelsey Kessler (zero runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts against St. John’s) and Alicia Pille (one run on four hits with six strikeouts against Utah) picked up complete-game victories for the Jayhawks. Kessler improved to 8-5, while Pille is 5-2 on the season.
KU (14-7) will face LIU Brooklyn at 8 a.m. Sunday.
