Kansas University’s women’s tennis team cruised past Texas-Arlington, 4-0, Sunday at the Jayhawk Tennis Center to push its season-opening record to 7-0, tying its best start in 20 years.
The Jayhawks are a victory away from having the best start to a season since the program’s first year, 1977, when they started 11-0.
Maria Jose Cardona and Maria Belen Ludueña won at No. 2 doubles, and Dylan Windom-Paulina Los won at No. 1 to give KU the doubles point.
Then Cardona (at No. 2), Ludueña (at No. 3) and Los (at No. 4) claimed straight-set victories in singles to clinch the match.
KU will travel Feb. 21 to Eastern Kentucky and Feb. 22 to Kentucky.
