Gary Woodland, the only golfer from Kansas University to win two PGA Tour events, guns for his first major championship beginning Thursday with a scheduled tee time of 8:13 a.m. at Augusta National in the Masters.
Woodland will play the first two rounds with Angel Cabrera of Argentina and Ian Poulter of England. Their Friday tee time is scheduled for 11:31 a.m.
Cabrera is the 2009 Masters champion and finished second last year, losing in a playoff to Adam Scott.
This is the third Masters for Woodland, 29. He placed 24th in 2011, the year he had a top-30 finish in all four major championships. He made the cut in the 2012 Masters but withdrew after the third round because of a wrist injury.
In 10 events in 2014, Woodland has three top-10 finishes, has made nine cuts and ranks 23rd on the PGA Tour money list with $1,424,810.00 in earnings. He ranks seventh on tour in greens made in regulation with 71.4 percent.
