KU women’s track second at Bayou

? Kansas University’s women’s track-and-field team placed second and the KU men third at the Battle on the Bayou, which concluded Saturday at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

Rhavean King won the 800 in 2:08.82, and Anastasia Muchkayev won the discus with a throw of 49.96 meters (163 feet, 11 inches) to lead the Jayhawks.

Hannah Richardson was second in the 3,000 in 9:51.4, Sydney Conley was second in the long jump (6.12 meters, or 21-1), Muchkayev was second in shot put (15.52 meters, 50-11), Daina Levy was runner-up in hammer throw (62.78, 206-0), and the 4X400-meter relay team of Diamond Dixon, Mercedes Smith, Whitney Adams and King placed second in 44.67.

LSU won the team title with 180 points, and KU had 133.

On the men’s side, Kansas won the 4X400 relay (with Michael Stigler, DeMario Johnson, Kenneth McCuin and Jaime Wilson) in 3:09.46, and Austin Hoag was second in the high jump at 2.08 meters (6-9 3/4).

LSU won the men’s team title with 166 points and was followed by Ohio State (106) and KU (104).

Kansas will travel to a pair of meets next weekend in Tempe, Ariz.
