Mesa, Ariz. ? Kansas University’s baseball team couldn’t get anything going at the plate on Saturday at Hohokam Park and fell, 2-1, to Nevada.
The Jayhawks (1-1) left 10 runners on base, hit into three double plays and scored their only run on a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning.
KU freshman first baseman Jacob Boylan had a third of the Jayhawks’ hits, going 3-for-4 with a double in his first start. Sophomore Justin Protacio added two walks, including KU’s sole RBI.
Sophomore pitcher Wes Benjamin took the loss for Kansas, allowing nine hits and two runs over 52/3 innings.
The Jayhawks will play their third of four games against the Wolfpack at 2 p.m. today.
