For the 25th straight year, the Kansas University men’s basketball team led its conference in home attendance.
During the 2010-11 season, KU averaged 16,436 fans per home game to top the Big 12, ranking ninth nationally. That total included 17 games in Allen Fieldhouse and also one at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. that was part of the home season-ticket package.
Texas was second in the Big 12 in average home attendance (13,669), followed Kansas State (12,652) and Iowa State (12,110).
The Jayhawks have now led their conference in home attendance average for 30 of the last 34 seasons dating back to 1977-78. They’ve also ranked in the top 15 nationally in attendance 30 times in the last 34 seasons.
For all games in the 2010-11 season, KU ranked sixth with 559,203 total fans.
The Big 12 ranked fourth in home attendance with an average of 10,716 fans per game.
