Bengals grab Briscoe in 6th Round

Although he expected to be a mid-round selection, former Kansas wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe had to wait until the 22nd pick of the sixth round (191st overall) of the NFL Draft to hear his name called.

According to Kevin Goheen, a contributing writer for the Bengals’ official Web site: “The Bengals had Briscoe rated much higher on their board and were ecstatic to find him still available this late.”

Briscoe finished his three-year career with 3,240 yards and 31 touchdowns — both school records — on 219 receptions.

In joining Kerry Meier in this year’s draft, that duo becomes the first pair of KU wide receivers taken in the same draft since 1981, when David Verser and Lester Mickens were selected by Cincinnati and New Orleans, respectively.
