Bradley Beal, a 6-foot-3 junior shooting guard from Chaminade High in St. Louis, has called a 10 a.m. news conference today at his high school to announce his college choice.

Beal, who is Rivals.com’s No. 7-ranked player in the Class of 2011, has a final list of Kansas University, Florida, Illinois, Duke, Missouri, St. Louis U. and Ohio State.

Kelvin Lee, his high school coach, told Rivals.com that KU, Florida and Illinois are the leaders. Beal, who has visited KU, Florida, Missouri, Illinois and Ohio State unofficially, recently sat in the stands behind KU’s bench when the Jayhawks met Memphis in St. Louis.

Beal, who played for the St. Louis Eagles in last spring’s Jayhawk Invitational tournament, averaged 23.5 points a game last season. He exploded for 30 points in Chaminade’s 80-70 Class 5A state-title victory over Grandview High. He scored 15 of his team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter in helping Chaminade rally from an 18-point deficit in the final eight minutes of a 66-65 state semifinal victory over Rock Bridge.

Last summer, he led the U.S. under-16 team to a gold medal in the FIBA Americas Championship in Argentina, scoring 26 points in the championship game.
