Former Kansas University golfers Chris Thompson and Ryan Vermeer also advanced to the sectional portion of U.S. Open qualifying on Monday, along with ex-Jayhawk Gary Woodland.
Woodland was the only one to qualify, but Thompson finished third at the Milburn Country Club site in Overland Park and will serve as the second alternate from that site. Vermeer finished three shots from qualifying at the Memphis, Tenn., site.
