Morris’ status doubtful for Jayhawk women

Sade Morris, second-leading scorer on Kansas University’s women’s basketball team, is listed as day-to-day after suffering a concussion in Saturday night’s game against Texas Tech.

With eight minutes remaining in the first half, Morris struck her cheekbone against the shoulder of a Tech player after being fouled. After spending several minutes on the floor, Morris had to be helped to the bench.

Minutes later, she was taken to the locker room and didn’t return. She was diagnosed with a Grade Two concussion.

A 5-foot-11 junior from Norman, Okla., Morris is averaging 12.3 points a game. She also ranks second on the team in steals.

Morris was unable to participate Monday’s practice.

“She still had a headache,” KU coach Bonnie Henricksons said, “so we sent her home and told her to rest.”

Kansas is scheduled to play at Nebraska on Wednesday night, and it’s doubtful Morris will make the trip to Lincoln, Neb.

“I’m not real optimistic,” Henrickson said.
