Animals at the Lawrence Humane Society will be the beneficiaries of an auction scheduled Friday at the Lawrence Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive.

The 14th annual Pawsible Dream Benefit Auction will start at 6 p.m. with the silent auction, followed by a live auction at 8 p.m.

Donated items include many items from the Kansas University basketball and football teams, including a framed piece of the championship floor, basketball and Brandon Rush jersey, each signed by the basketball team; framed set of Sports Illustrated football and basketball covers signed by Kerry Meier and Mario Chalmers; and a framed set of Orange Bowl program and media guide signed by various players.

Other items include vacation packages to Disney World, Sea World and Steamboat Springs, tickets to sporting events, pet products and other merchandise. The full list of items can be found at the organization’s Web site, www.lawrencehumane.org.

The evening also includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and entertainment. Proceeds go to food, shelter, medications, vaccinations and veterinary care for abandoned and abused animals in Douglas County. The shelter provides care for nearly 7,000 dogs, cats and other small animals each year.

Tickets are $25 per person, or $40 for two. They are available at the Humane Society, 1805 E. 19th St., at the society’s Web site or at the door.
