By The Associated Press     Sep 9, 2007

? Texas A&M turned to its powerful running back to stave off Fresno State on Saturday.

Jorvorskie Lane rushed for two of his four touchdowns in the second and third overtimes as the 23rd-ranked Aggies beat the feisty Bulldogs, 47-45, in the first three-OT game in A&M history.

“I knew what the situation was,” said Lane, who rushed for 121 yards. “They couldn’t stop us in the running game.”

No. 5 Oklahoma 51,

Miami (Fla.) 13

Norman, Okla. – Sam Bradford tied a school record with five touchdown passes as No. 5 Oklahoma earned a measure of redemption in its first meeting since the Hurricanes swept three games in the 1980s.

All three of Oklahoma’s losses came in a three-year span when the Sooners went 33-0 against all opponents except the Hurricanes.

No. 7 Texas 34, No. 19 TCU 13

Austin, Texas – Colt McCoy passed for a touchdown and set up another with a long run, and a dominant performance by No. 7 Texas’ defense carried the Longhorns over No. 19 TCU.

No. 16 Nebraska 20,

Wake Forest 17

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Sam Keller threw for 258 yards and a touchdown in his first road start at Nebraska, and Zackary Bowman had a critical interception in the end zone.

Kansas State 34,

San Jose State 14

Manhattan – Josh Freeman threw for 272 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score.

James Johnson ran for 111 yards and one TD for Kansas State (1-1), which won its 18th straight home opener and avoided its first 0-2 start since losing its first three games in 1989.

Deon Murphy caught Freeman’s touchdown pass and ran 21 yards on a reverse for a 34-7 lead for the Wildcats, who had 153 yards rushing night after being held to 27 in last week’s 23-13 loss at Auburn.

Missouri 38, Mississippi 25

Oxford, Miss. – It looks like Chase Daniel could throw for 300 yards every game. The way Missouri’s defense is playing, he may have to.

Daniel accounted for a career-high 396 total yards and threw five touchdowns passes as Missouri sprinted to a 28-point lead over Mississippi, then held on.

Texas Tech 45, UTEP 31

Lubbock, Texas – Graham Harrell threw for 484 yards and four touchdowns as Texas Tech came from behind in the Red Raiders’ home opener.

Baylor 42, Rice 17

Waco, Texas – Blake Szymanski threw for school-record 412 yards and six touchdowns.

Szymanski already had another record by halftime, when he was the first Bear to throw four touchdowns in a half.

Northern Iowa 24, Iowa St. 13

Ames, Iowa – Northern Iowa struck another blow for the little guy in college football’s top two divisions.

Upholding the suddenly elevated stature of the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division 1-AA), Northern Iowa got a near-perfect game from quarterback Eric Sanders and kept Iowa State winless under new coach Gene Chizik.

Oklahoma State 42, Florida Atlantic 6

Stillwater, Okla. – Backup quarterback Zac Robinson passed for 250 yards and three touchdowns, two to Adarius Bowman.
