CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ? A review by North Carolina’s NCAA compliance department has determined no NCAA violations occurred when former Tar Heels players talked to basketball prospects during a recruiting visit the weekend of Sept. 15-16.
In an e-mail to the Charlotte Observer on Tuesday, North Carolina associate athletics director for communications Steve Kirschner said former players Sean May and Marvin Williams and North Carolina’s compliance officials were under the misimpression that as part-time students, May and Williams could speak to recruits. Only full-time, enrolled students are allowed to speak with recruits, Kirschner said.
