Eight former Kansas University basketball players were on the opening-day rosters of NBA teams.
Jacque Vaughn of the San Antonio Spurs, who has a calf injury, and Scot Pollard of the Boston Celtics, who has an ankle injury, began the season on the inactive list.
The other former Jayhawks are Paul Pierce, Boston; Drew Gooden, Cleveland; Raef LaFrentz, Portland; Nick Collison, Seattle; Kirk Hinrich, Chicago and Julian Wright, New Orleans.
Wayne Simien was released by Minnesota in the Timberwolves’ last cut.
