Kansas University senior Colby Wissel will compete at the NCAA cross country championships today in Terre Haute, Ind.
He will be trying to join Bob Karnes, Al Frame, Jerry McNeal and Billy Mills as the only two-time All-Americans in school history.
The meet will once again be hosted by Indiana State University and held at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course. It will be the seventh time he will compete on those grounds.
“They’ve had Nationals there every year since I’ve been here,” Wissel said. “It’s a pretty flat course, so strategy doesn’t really play a part in it. So I don’t really think that even though I’ve run there many times, I don’t have a competitive advantage over the next guy.”
Last year, Wissel placed 26th in a slower-than-usual 10K time of 31:34.3.
