Big 12 baseball coaches tap Texas No. 1, Kansas ninth

Defending regular-season champion Texas is the preseason favorite to win the Big 12 baseball title in a vote of the league’s head coaches announced Monday by the conference office.

Defending Big 12 Tournament champion Kansas was picked to finish ninth.

The Longhorns received seven of the 10 first-place votes. Oklahoma had two first-place votes and Texas A&M one, even though the Aggies were tapped for seventh place overall.

Texas collected 79 votes. Oklahoma State had 70 and Nebraska 64, followed by Baylor 57, Oklahoma 46, Texas Tech 37, Texas A&M 34, Missouri 29, Kansas 22 and Kansas State 12.
