KU trio tapped as AP All-Americans

By J-W Staff Reports     Dec 11, 2007

Kansas University juniors Anthony Collins and Aqib Talib were named to the All-America first team by the Associated Press on Tuesday.

In addition, KU senior James McClinton was named to the second team.

Collins and Talib continue to do well on the various All-America teams being released, but a spot on the prestigious AP team may top them all. Talib, a cornerback, had 61 tackles, four interceptions and 13 pass breakups in leading a rejuvenated KU defense which struggled against the pass in 2006.

Collins, meanwhile, was a wall at left tackle protecting quarterback Todd Reesing’s blindside. Fueled by the offensive line’s performance in both run blocking and pass protection, KU’s offense rolled to 491.1 yards per game and 44.3 points per game.

McClinton, meanwhile, racked up 38 tackles, including 11 for a loss, as KU’s standout defensive tackle.
