Swimmers battling with MU in team race

? The Kansas University swimming and diving team is in fourth place after two days of competition at the Big 12 Conference Championships, nipping at Missouri’s heels.

The Jayhawks have compiled 131 points, trailing Mizzou by just three but well behind leader Texas and second-place Texas A&M.

Senior Gina Gnatzig led the way for the Jayhawks, breaking a school record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:48.77. She eventually placed fifth in the finals.

Also, Danielle Herrmann took 11th in the 200 individual medley, senior Lindsey Urbatchka placed 14th in the 50 freestyle and the Jayhawks’ 400 medley relay team finished third, clocking a time of 3:45.99.

The three-day Big 12 Championships will wrap up today in Columbia, with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. and finals beginning at 6 p.m.
