The list of Kansas University men’s basketball recruits to attend the KU-Missouri football game Sept. 27 keeps growing.
Quentin Thomas, a 6-foot-4 point guard/shooting guard from Oakland, Calif., said Wednesday he would make an official recruiting visit to KU the weekend of Sept. 26-27, joining prospects Chester Giles and Russell Robinson on campus that weekend.
Thomas told Shay Wildeboor of rivals.com he would visit Arizona State Sept. 12-14. Thomas also likely will visit North Carolina and is considering Oregon and Utah.
Giles, 6-10 from Seattle and the son of former Jayhawk Chester Giles, also is considering USC, Washington, Miami, Oregon and UCLA.
Robinson, 6-1 from New York, also is considering Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Connecticut, St. John’s and Florida State.
Alexander Kaun, 6-11 from Melbourne, Fla., and A.J. Price, 6-0 from Amityville, N.Y., will visit KU for the UNLV football game the weekend of Sept. 5-6.
Shane Foster, 6-6 from Kenner, La., and Al Horford, 6-8 from Grand Ledge, Mich., will visit Oct. 17 for Late Night With Bill Self.
KU, which has received a commitment from Midwest City, Okla., power forward Darnell Jackson, has two scholarships remaining.
Flickner, who spent the last two seasons as a member of the Colorado State men’s basketball program, replaces Nathan Davis, who went to Bucknell as its top assistant.
“Blake is a young man who I was impressed with during the interview process,” said DeVoe. “He comes from an outstanding basketball program at Colorado State and was involved with the Kansas program as a student.
“Blake also comes from a tremendous winning bloodline, if you will, as his father has been a longtime junior-college coach. I look forward to this year with Blake and Dave Wojcik joining our staff.”
Flickner joined the Rams staff during the summer of 2001. During the 2001-02 season, he served as an administrative assistant. In June of 2002, Flickner took the title of director of basketball operations.
Flickner served as a student manager at Kansas from 1996-98 and assumed the head manager position his senior year. During his two years at Kansas, the Jayhawks produced a combined record of 69-6 and won back-to-back Big 12 Conference championships.
