College Station, Texas ? Freshman Kara Pierce allowed two unearned runs off four hits in the full seven innings, and Kansas used a quick start to drop Texas A&M, 5-2, in college softball on Saturday.
The Jayhawks (18-16, 3-2) outhit A&M 12-4 and led 3-0 after an inning and 4-0 after two.
Shelly Musser, Megan Urquhart, Courtney Wright and Amy Hulse each had two hits for Kansas, and Leah Tabb hit her fifth home run of the season.
Four different Aggies had a hit each.
Jessica Slataper (4-4) took the loss for A&M (24-10, 1-4) after allowing four runs off four hits over 12*3 innings.
Pierce, meanwhile, improved to 11-7 after recording just one strikeout and two walks.
Kansas, which has won six of its last seven, and Texas A&M will play again this afternoon.
