Waco, Texas ? Kansas University compiled a three-round total of 969 strokes, placing last Tuesday at the Big 12 Preview women’s golf tournament at Ridgewood Country Club.
The Jayhawks shot a 316 in the final round and finished 16 shots behind 11th-place Colorado.
“I’m happy with the way our team played today,” KU head coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. “We played better and had three players in the 70s. We were very close to the point where we were clicking.”
Oklahoma State, led by third-place finisher Maria Boden, won the tournament with 895 strokes. Texas Tech’s Melanie Hunt won the tournament with 216 strokes.
Ashely Bishop tied for 28th to lead the KU golfers. She finished with 233 strokes. Heather Rose (243), Jennifer Bawanan (246), Kristy Straub (247) and Tiffany Kruggel (258) also played for the Jayhawks.
