The Keegan Ratings
Not your typical frosh
After each KU football game this season, this is where you can find out the gridiron equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He'll rate the Top 10 Jayhawk individual performances, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel. (Scoring: Each week, the top player in the ratings will be awarded 10 points. Second best gets nine points. Third best gets eight points, and so on and so on. The season standings are at the bottom)
1. Chris Harris: Had six tackles, broke up two passes, intercepted a pass and generally played far more like a senior than a freshman.
2. Jake Sharp: So quick to hit the hole, Sharp rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries.
3. Derek Fine: Made a huge recovery of a fumbled punt, contributed typically strong blocking game and caught four passes.
4. Anthony Collins: The best on an offensive line that has come together quickly as a unit.
5. Justin Thornton: Interception at the goal line was huge.
6. Darrell Stuckey: Quick to the ball, whether it was under the arm of a ballcarrier or in the air.
7. Marcus Herford: The best kick return man in the Big 12 broke free through the middle and sprinted to his second TD return of the season, a play so exciting it drew thunder and lightning and triggered a delay in the action.
8. Aqib Talib: Didn’t get a touchdown or an interception, but didn’t make mistakes.
9. Joe Mortensen: To run at him is to run the risk of being picked up into the air and thrown down onto the grass.
10. James Holt: Active getting into the backfield and efficient dropping back into pass coverage.

I cannot believe Scott Webb is SCORELESS on this scale! He consistantly is everything a major college coach would want from his kicker. He was his typically solid self producing 16 points against the Bears. Webb does it game after game so where are his kudos?

Agree on Webb. He is the finest kicker in college right now, and would upgrade most NFL teams. His kicks through the end zone have been a large part of the defensive unit's success too.

Oh and I forgot to mention Webb is only another 16 points away from being the all-time KU leader in points.

I think he has been ignored because he hasn't been asked to kick the long ones yet.
A kicker getting ignored is probably a good sign, if they are getting a ton of attention it either means he is screwing up a lot, or that the offense isn't working and you keep asking him to kick long ones to keep you in a game.
Our offense is working great, and he is nailing all of the ones that you would expect him to nail.
Times are good.

I agree, JBurtin. Once he hits a pressure-packed, distance kick, I think he'll get some more recognition. Kickers who are as consistent as he without being tested bigtime typically go unnoticed...
and SteelHorse...he's 58 points away. Not 16.
