After each KU football game this season, this is where you can find out the gridiron equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Top 10 Jayhawk individual performances, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch.
1. Todd Reesing: Completed 37 of 51 passes for 375 yards and four touchdowns (two interceptions), numbers that don’t capture how elusive and clutch he was in leading KU to victory.
2. Darrell Stuckey: Had two interceptions, forced a fumble, punching the ball out of Chase Daniel’s arm, and then recovered it, and tied team-best with six tackles.
3. Dezmon Briscoe: In his first game as a kick returner he returned seven kicks for 195 yards. He also caught nine passes for 115 yards and a touchdown.
4. Kerry Meier: Caught 14 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner.
5. Dexton Fields: Seven receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown.
6. Jake Laptad: For the second time this season, had a sack for a safety. Had five tackles overall.
7. James Holt: Counted a sack among his six tackles.
8. Jeremiah Hatch: Praised by coach Mark Mangino for keeping defensive end Stryker Sulak (two tackles, both sacks) from dominating.
9. Alonso Rojas: Punter executed to perfection rugby kicks designed to keep the ball away from Jeremy Maclin. Placed three kicks inside the 20.
10. Jacob Branstetter: Kicker not only made a 34-yard field goal, he made what might have been a game-saving tackle, knocking Jeremy Maclin out of bounds on his final kick return. It was Branstetter’s second tackle of Maclin.
