The Keegan Ratings: Brandon goes Bear hunting

By Staff     Jan 25, 2007

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the basketball equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawks’ individual performances from top to bottom, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch and who has seen better days. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel._**1. Brandon Rush**: Shot well, defended well, rebounded well. He was too long, too quick, and too explosive for any of the Baylor players to compete against. He had 18 points, eight rebounds, a big blocked shot and limited Baylor sharp-shooter Aaron Bruce to eight points.**2. Julian Wright**: Had a terrific first half, dunking and passing and hitting the boards hard. Finished with 16 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.**3. Sherron Collins**: Made three of four three-point shots and as usual sped up the fastbreak when he was in the game. He’s making better decisions all the time and had the last word against hecklers who were calling him Gary Coleman after the pint-sized actor.**4. Russell Robinson**: Took good care of the ball, dishing out four assists and had one turnover and two steals. **5. Mario Chalmers**: Turned it over three times, but shot well, making two of three three-pointers.**6. Sasha Kaun**: Didn’t do a good job on the boards and hurried too much at times with the ball in the post. Did a nice job of finding the open man and had four assists. **7. Darnell Jackson**: He didn’t score, but did get seven rebounds in nine minutes and showed great composure in not retaliating when shoved by Mamadou Diene. **8. Darrell Arthur**: Obviously nervous playing in front of the coaching staff he took to the altar an abandoned at the last instant, as well as playing in front of several family members seated behind the bench, Arthur was charged with five turnovers in 21 minutes.**9. Brady Morningstar**: He packed serious highlights into two minutes and had four points, a steal and a spin move to his name. Both jumpers he attempted swished.**10. Jeremy Case**: Missed both of his three-point shot attempts and had a turnover, but moved the ball well and had a steal in six minutes.**11. Rodrick Stewart**: Clanked both free throw attempts. **12. Matt Kleinmann**: Picked up a board.**13. Brad Witherspoon**: Heads it’s Witherspoon, tails it’s Bechard. Heads it is.**14. Brennan Bechard**: Did he touch the ball?**The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (total points and average rank)** **1.** Brandon Rush (68, 20 games) 3.40 (**_Jumps Chalmers for top spot_**) **2.** Mario Chalmers (69, 20 games) 3.45 **3.** Julian Wright (73, 20 games) 3.65 **4.** Darrell Arthur (87, 20 games) 4.35 **5.** Sherron Collins (92, 20 games) 4.60 **6.** Russell Robinson (100, 20 games) 5.00 **7.** Sasha Kaun (92, 17 games) 5.41 **8.** Darnell Jackson (125, 20 games) 6.25 **9.** Rodrick Stewart (142, 16 games) 8.88 **10.** Brady Morningstar (76, 8 games) 9.50 **11.** Jeremy Case (97, 10 games) 9.70 **12.** Matt Kleinmann (85, 8 games) 10.63 **13.** Brennan Bechard (65, 5 games) 13.00 **14.** Brad Witherspoon (66, 5 games) 13.20
