For the second time this season, the Kansas athletic department is hosting a watch party at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium during a KU football road game.

This time, KU is welcoming fans to its new conference center, located in the north end of the venue. The event begins in the 1921 Field Club, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. ahead of the Jayhawks’ 6:30 p.m. kickoff in Lubbock, Texas, as they face off against Texas Tech. The club includes a wall measuring 22 feet by 12 feet, on which the game will be televised.

Parking is free in the lots around the stadium, and fans may enter through Gate 5. Concession items will be available for purchase as part of the event.

Texas Tech comes into the game ranked No. 9 in the country with an undefeated record after beating Houston 35-11 on Saturday. The Jayhawks eked out a 27-20 road win at UCF the same night and will enter the contest at Jones AT&T Stadium at 4-2, 2-1 in Big 12 play.

KU previously held a watch party inside David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, on the surface of Kivisto Field itself, when the Jayhawks were playing Missouri at Faurot Field on Sept. 6. Unlike that event, Saturday’s does not require an RSVP from fans who are hoping to attend.

This weekend’s watch party will precede the proper unveiling of the conference center later this month. KU Chancellor Douglas Girod recently said that the “grand official opening” will take place when the Jayhawks host Kansas State for the Sunflower Showdown on Oct. 25 with the governor and members of the state legislature in attendance.
