The Kansas women’s tennis team ended its season in the NCAA tournament Saturday after running into a tough, highly-ranked North Carolina State squad.
KU lost 4-0 to the Wolfpack in second round tournament action in Raleigh, North Carolina. N.C. State is the third-ranked team in the tournament, and it showed on Saturday. N.C. State won all three of the doubles matches in team competition, and then won the first three matches in singles play, clinching the team competition.
KU, which entered the tournament as the 25th ranked team in the country, finished its season with a 15-8 record. The tournament appearance was the 13th in program history for the Jayhawks and the sixth under coach Todd Chapman.
By advancing to the second round in this year’s tournament, KU took a step forward from a year ago. In the 2022 tournament, KU lost in the first round to the University of California – Santa Barbara.
