The 19th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks are staying in the 11 a.m. kickoff slot for a while longer.

KU announced Monday that its Oct. 22 road game at Baylor will kick off at 11 a.m. on either ESPN or ESPN2.

That will follow this week’s 11 a.m. kickoff against Oklahoma in Norman, which is slated for an ESPN2 broadcast on Saturday morning.

And, of course, KU’s 38-31 loss to TCU on a College Gameday weekend in Lawrence also kicked off at 11 a.m.

When you add in the Oklahoma and Baylor games, you’re looking at three consecutive 11 a.m. kickoffs for the Jayhawks and four 11 a.m. starts in the past five weeks. Kansas’ win over Duke on Sept. 24 also started before noon.

We know the streak won’t grow to four consecutive weeks at 11 a.m. for the Jayhawks because they’ll have their bye on Oct. 29. But it could be four consecutive games with the early kick. Kickoff for the Nov. 5 home game against Oklahoma State will be determined later this month.

The Jayhawks (5-1 overall, 2-1 Big 12) opened as a 7-point underdog at OU (3-3, 0-3) this weekend, despite the Sooners dropping three consecutive games, including last week’s 49-0 whipping by Texas.

In losses to Kansas State, TCU and Texas, Brent Venables’ OU squad has given up an average of 48.3 points per game to its opponents.

Kansas, meanwhile, enters this week’s showdown with the Sooners averaging 39.8 points per game.

KU will enter Saturday’s game at OU one win shy of becoming bowl eligible for the first time since the 2008 season. That, among several others, will remain a major storyline surrounding the program until Lance Leipold’s squad snags win No. 6 on the season.

Here’s a look at the rest of the 2022 schedule for the 5-1 Jayhawks:

Oct. 15 – at Oklahoma, 11 a.m., ESPN2

Oct. 22 – at Baylor, 11 a.m., ESPN or ESPN2

Oct. 29 – Bye

Nov. 5 – vs. Oklahoma State, Time/TV TBD

Nov. 12 – at Texas Tech, Time/TV TBD

Nov. 19 – vs. Texas, Time/TV TBD

Nov. 26 – at Kansas State, Time/TV TBD
