To conclude the weekend, the Kansas women’s tennis team was handed a 4-1 defeat by Iowa State Sunday afternoon at the Forker Courts. It came two days after a convincing 6-1 road victory over West Virginia.
ISU jumped out to an early lead by grabbing doubles point behind wins on court one and court three.
Iowa State’s Miska Kadleckova and Naklo Thasaporn recorded a 6-1 win over KU’s Sonia Smagina and Vasiliki Karvouni. On court three, Maty Cancini and Sofia Cabezas secured a 6-3 victory over Carmen Manu and Tiffany Lagarde.
Malkia Ngounoue and Julia Deming of Kansas were in a 4-4 deadlock before their doubles match went unfinished. Karvouni notched the first and only point of the afternoon for the Jayhawks with a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Iowa State (12-4) responded by claiming three singles victories on court six, one and three. KU fell to 7-7 on the year with the loss, which came after back-to-back wins over Kansas State and West Virginia.
Kansas will travel to Kansas State at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
