The 10th-ranked Kansas volleyball team lost in five sets to visiting West Virginia on Friday night at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
The loss was KU’s fourth consecutive setback since opening the season with a win over Baylor.
The Jayhawks (1-4) and Mountaineers (2-3) enjoyed alternate success for the first four sets, with WVU winning the first and third sets (25-19 and 25-23) and KU taking sets two and four (25-21 and 25-20).
The two teams were then tied at 10 in the fifth and decisive set before WVU scores five of the final seven points to win the set 15-12 and the match.
Ayah Elnady led Kansas with 12 kills, Sara Nielsen added to the KU attack with 20 assists and Molly Schultz led with 14 digs.
The two teams will meet again at 5 p.m. tonight.
