A pair of second-half goals propelled the No. 11 Kansas soccer team past Purdue on Sunday afternoon in the final match of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup. Senior Katie McClure notched her seventh goal of the year before sophomore Kailey Lane netted the game-winner, her second of 2019, in the 85th minute.
The victory pushed the Jayhawks to 5-1-0 on the season, while Purdue suffered its second loss of the year, falling to 4-2-0.
McClure was in the right place at the right time when she corralled a save attempt from the Purdue goalkeeper for the 29th of her KU career. In the 85th minute, freshman Ellie Prybylski played a low cross along the end line when McClure and Lane met the pass at the near post. After a quick deflection from McClure, Lane chipped the ball into the back of the net to put the Jayhawks ahead for good.
KU will will travel to Northwestern at 7 p.m. Friday.
